Tunisia: 332-MTD Kuwaiti loan for construction of two dams

Tunisia and Kuwait on Tuesday signed two agreements on a loan and technical assistance provided by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) worth 332 million dinars, on the sidelines of President Beji Caid Essebsi’s current visit to Kuwait.

Finance Minister Slim Chaker said the first agreement provides for financing the construction of two dams, one in Kalaâ (governorate of Sousse), and the other in Saida, governorate of Manouba.

The loan was granted on highly concessional terms, repayable over 22 years, with a grace period of 6 years, and an interest rate of 3%.

As for the second agreement, worth 2 million dinars, it will be used to develop a study on the creation of a pilot development project in Beja.
