The Tunisian Federation of Travel Agencies (FTAV) has published a health procedure manual entitled “Anti-COVID-19 Health Protocol for Tunisian Tourism ” (PSTT Anti COVID-19).
It provides for a series of measures on respecting rules of hygiene and health safety, in order to prevent any possible spread of COVID-19 in tourist facilities.
The manual was developed by Tunisia’s National Tourist Office (ONTT).
It stressed the imperative not to exceed 50% of the maximum of reception capacity in hotels, restaurants and seminar and congress halls and in tourist transport vehicles.
The protocol also provides for taking the temperature of all customers, using a contactless infrared thermometer.
In the event of a persistent fever (over 38°), the customer will not be admitted and the hotel shall contact the health service.
The luggage will be disinfected upon arrival at the hotel and each room will be cleaned, disinfected and ventilated for three hours before the keys are handed over to the customer.
The protocol also stipulates the wearing of masks for hotel staff and tourists inside tourist transport vehicles, as well as the installation of hydro-alcoholic gel dispensers in each common area, including tourist vehicles.
Regarding social distancing, it has been set at 1 meter in public spaces, common areas of the tourist facility and in tourist transport vehicles, and 2.5 meters between tables in restaurants, bars and cafes.
The number of bathers in swimming pools was set at one swimmer per three square meters of the pool.
Before accessing the swimming pool, bathers must imperatively wash with shower gel in one of the outdoor cabins available to them.
The document was developed as part of the measures to control the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in tourist facilities, monitor the safety of both staff and customers in tourist establishments and restore trust with sales networks and Tour operators as quickly as possible.
