The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group approved, on June 30, 2025, in Abidjan, a $50 million trade finance guarantee facility for the Banque Internationale Arabe de Tunisie (BIAT) to promote trade.
The transaction guarantee will specifically support the imports of raw materials, production machinery, and telecommunications and renewable energy equipment needed to bolster Tunisia’s industrialization process.
While agribusiness and light manufacturing are the primary sectors targeted by this intervention, the guarantee will also facilitate imports of essential goods to meet short-term local demand.
This move further strengthens BIAT’s position, building on its strong performance in supporting the Tunisian economy through sound governance, proven local expertise, and a broad network of strategic partners.
The three-year facility will benefit large local companies and SMEs, including those led by women.
