A Tunisian delegation led by Mourad Belhassen, Director General of Economic and Cultural Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, is carrying out an exploratory mission to Senegal aimed at identifying investment and trade partnership opportunities.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visit seeks to hold meetings with relevant Senegalese stakeholders and assess on the ground the opportunities offered by the Senegalese market, particularly in the agriculture, agri-food industries, and related sectors.
As part of the mission, the delegation, accompanied by Tunisia’s Ambassador to Senegal, Rachid Saïdani, was received on Wednesday by Senegalese Minister of Industry and Trade Serigne Guèye Diop.
The Senegalese minister welcomed the initiative, saying it could help establish an operational framework to advance the main areas of Tunisian-Senegalese cooperation.
The delegation also held meetings with senior officials from Senegal’s ministries of Agriculture and Maritime Fisheries, as well as representatives of economic and investment institutions, including the Senegalese Export Promotion Agency and the Agency for the Promotion of Investments and Major Works.
Discussions were also held with representatives of Senegal’s private sector, notably the National Confederation of Employers of Senegal and the National Employers’ Council.
The Tunisian delegation includes representatives from the Technical Center for the Food Industry, the Agricultural Investment Promotion Agency, and the “Qawafel” project, funded by the French Development Agency.
