Special Advisor to the Vice President of Investment Operations Region 2 of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), Supee Teravaninthorn, affirmed the bank’s willingness to review the projects Tunisia intends to present and to work toward providing the required financing.
During a meeting held on Monday, December 1 in Tunis with Minister of Economy and Planning, Samir Abdelhafidh, the official emphasized that her current working visit to Tunisia is part of AIIB’s effort to gain a close understanding of Tunisia’s development programs and priorities, particularly in sectors supported by the bank and for which it provides necessary financing, such as water, renewable energy, transport, and infrastructure.
For his part, the Minister of Economy highlighted the importance of this visit, which represents an opportunity to showcase Tunisia’s development priorities.
He added that the bank’s financing orientations align with the Tunisian government’s choices, notably in transport, renewable energy, water, and infrastructure development.
Abdelhafidh also expressed his hope for the launch of a fruitful cooperation between Tunisia and the bank in the coming period, which would allow the creation of a strong and diversified partnership in the medium and long term.
Tunisia became a member of this multilateral financial institution in 2022, which currently counts 110 member countries.
