Angola, Congo to sign accord on oil exploration

Angola’s Minister of Petroleum Botelho de Vasconcelos Friday left Luanda for the Republic of Congo to sign an accord on oil exploration between the two countries.

Speaking to journalists at Luanda’s “4 de Fevereiro” International Airport, the minister said the accord resulted from the negotiations between the two countries in the last 10 years.

According to him, under the pact, Angola and Congo will designate, in their border zone, a joint exploration area that will produce oil, whose benefits will accrue to both countries.

De Vasconcelos said the implementation of the accord would produce positive effects in the countries.

The Angolan delegation comprised Vice-Minister of Interior Ângelo Viegas and Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Manuel Augusto.
