Angolan, Italian trade hits 2 billion euros

Trade between Angola and Italy in 2011 hit 1.7 billion euros, sparked by the African country’s oil exportation to Rome, the Italian ambassador to Angola, Giuseppe Mistretta indicated on Monday in Lubango.

Mistretta said that the figure marked a new record in the business transaction between the two countries.

“We’ve achieved record results in trade. For the first time, Italy imported a large quantity of Angolan oil,” the diplomat said, expressing the hope that both countries would maintain the status quo.

He also expressed the hope that both would achieve the same level of result in non-oil businesses.

Mistretta said the current relationship with Angola was good and expressed the hope that this will improve.
