Angola’s national carrier, Boeing sign US$600m aircraft deal

Angola’s national carrier TAAG and US aerospace and defence corporation Boeing have signed a US$600 million agreement for the purchase of three brand new aircraft.

The agreement, signed in the capital city of Luanda this week, stipulates that the first of the three Boeing 777-300ER will be delivered in late 2014 or March 2015; the second in September of that year and the last in 2016.
The pact was signed by Angola’s Minister of Transport Augusto da Silva Tomás and
 Boeing’s Sales Director João Miguel.
The minister said the pact was a ”positive response” to the challenges of rebuilding TAAG.
TAAG is acquiring the state-of-the-art Boeing 777-300ER to replace its fleet of Boeing 747-300 which were retired last year after 13 years in service.

The company, which was created in 1938, had earlier acquired a fleet of Boeing 777-200ER.
