Applications to access energy transition programme launched for ministries and state enterprises

The National Agency for Energy Conservation (ANME), on Tuesday, launched the applications to access the energy transition programme for ministries and administrative and non-administrative state enterprises and institutions.

ANME Director-General Fathi Hanchi said at a webinar held for this purpose, that “the energy transition programme in state enterprises will allow them to equip themselves with photovoltaic systems with the aim of reducing their energy bills and their greenhouse gas emissions.

“This programme, funded by the German Development Bank (KfW) with a budget of 200 million dinars over three years, will contribute to the achievement of Tunisia’s renewable energy objectives,” he added.

“It will finance all stages of the installation of photovoltaic systems, from the study phase to the installation of systems and technical control. The Energy Transition Fund will cover the costs of the Value Added Tax,” said energy expert Abdelkarim Ghezal.

ANME will also provide technical assistance and training of human resources of state enterprises and institutions in the fields of energy efficiency and maintenance.

Ghezal said the programme targets the headquarters of ministries and administrative and non-administrative state enterprises and excludes state industrial and commercial enterprises that have the capacity to fund their projects through their own budgets or by borrowing.

He added that the building subject to the programme must meet the technical criteria and must be a property of the State.

He also indicated that any enterprise which will benefit from this programme is invited to conclude a framework agreement with ANME, after submitting an application for participation.

Tunisia aims to increase the share of renewable energy in electricity production to 30% by 2030.

The Ministry of Finance had approved, early February, the allocation of a budget of 100 thousand dinars for the year 2022, to install solar pv panels on the roof of TAP news agency. The project will be carried out in coordination with ANME.
