Benin budgets 1,000b FCFA for 2011

Benin’s National Assembly Thursday night voted to approve the country’s 2011 budget, set at 1,099,375  billion FCFA, against 1,346, 439 billion FCFA in 2010.

The forecast of domestic resources amount to 824.691 billion FCFA and expenditures to 1,099,375 billion FCFA, generating a projected deficit of 274,684 billion FCFA, compared with 396, 445 billion FCFA for the current year.

The deficit will be covered by domestic resources (49.606 billion FCFA) and external resources (76,912 billion FCFA.

The budget, the last under incumbent head of state Yayi Boni, was voted for by members of parties close to the regime (33) while those of the opposition (41) abstained from voting
