Tunisia: Trade deficit reaches 6.6 billion dinars by end of May

Tunisia’s external trade during the first five months of 2018 show a deficit in the trade balance of 6.62 billion dinars against 6.47 billion dinars during the same period in 2017, said  the National Institute of Statistics (INS.
Indeed, exports increased by 27.5% against 14.2% during the same period in 2017. In value, exports reached 17 billion dinars against 13.3 billion during the same period in 2017.
Similarly, imports maintained a significant growth rate, registering an increase of 19.3% against 17.8% in the first five months of 2017, for a value of 23.64 billion dinars against 19.82 billion at the end of May 2017.
As a result, the hedge rate improved by 4.7 percentage points from the first five months of 2017 to 72%.
