Botswana’s Consumer Fair attracts more international exhibitors

Botswana’s annual shopping jamboree, dubbed the Botswana Consumer Fair, has recorded an increase in the number of international exhibitors for the 2013 edition.

Organisers of the event, Fairground Holdings, said this year’s event attracted 15 foreign exhibitors from both regional and international countries, including Japan, Kenya, Lesotho, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Swaziland, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

“We have recorded a two percent growth on international exhibitors from what we achieved last year,” said Mike Montshiwa, chief executive officer of Fairground Holdings on Tuesday.

Montshiwa expressed optimism that the fair would continue to attract more international exhibitors.

The Fair attracted over 400 local exhibitors this year.

Holding under the theme ‘shop, discover and explore’, the current Fair (22-28 July) is expected to attract over 60,000 visitors.

Botswana’s Vice President Ponatshego Kedikilwe is expected to official open the Fair on Thursday.
