The Burkinabe government has granted mining licences to four foreign companies, a decision taken Wednesday at the end of the council of ministers’ meeting here.
The first industrial operating licence of vast gold mine was granted to the Konkera SA company, on an area of 64.34 km2, for seven years, in Batie, south-west Burkina Faso.
The second licence was to Hounde Gold ITS Operation company, authorized to operate for eight years on 23.19 km2 in Hounde, in the Hauts-Bassins region.
The third was granted to Roxgold Sanu SA company, covering an area of 15.697 km2 in the commune of Bagassi, in the Loop de Mouhoun region.
The potential of mineral reserves is estimated at 22.740 tons of raw gold in this area.
The fourth gold mining licence was granted to Gryphon SA company, in the rural communes of Niankorodougou and Dakoro in the province of the Leraba, in the Cascades region.
This licence is for operation over an area of 88.6 km2.
