CFA 1,250 million for microcredits in Benin

The West African Development Bank (BOAD) has granted Benin a CFA 1,250 million loan to support the microcredit program for the poor under an agreement signed on Tuesday October 9th.

Official sources said on Wednesday October 10th in Cotonou that the programme was aimed at encouraging activities that generated profits for individuals and associations.

It would help to increase by 5% the total production of goods and services specially appropriate for the needs of urban and rural populations.

This agreement brings the total amount of BOAD interventions in Benin to CFA 179 billion, including CFA 25 billion for the rural population.
