Congo: AfDB, Congo, Gabon to fund road project between Congo and Gabon

The Congolese Finance and Budget Minister, Gilbert Ondongo, and Valentin Zongo, the World Bank representative in the two Congos, have signed a loan agreement, worth 168.58 billion FCFA, in Brazzaville for the construction of a road from Ndéndé-Doussalla in Gabon to Dolisie in Congo.

A communiqué from the Congolese Finance and Budget Ministry said Thursday the project, valued at 168.58 billion FCFA, will be jointly funded by the African Development Bank (which will make available 83.00 billion FCFA), Congo (71.45 billion FCFA) and Gabon (14.231 billion FCAF).

It said the first part of the project consists of the asphalting of the 49-kilometre road between Ndéndé and Doussala and the 93-kilometre road between Dolisie and Kibangou.

The project also involves the rehabilitation of 130-kilometre road between Kibangou and Ndongo at the border with Gabon.

The second phase concerns the asphalting of the remaining portion of the road between Kibangou and Ndongo and the laying out of the round about in the town of Pointe Noire and the ports of Dolisie and Ndéndé.
