Tunisia: textile exports up by around 10%

“Tunisia has a competitive advantage in the textile and clothing sector compared to many other countries. It is also an attractive destination for investment in a sector that includes around 1,200 companies,” said Mourad Ben Hassine, president of the Export Promotion Centre (CEPEX), noting that the sector is one of the pillars of industry.

Speaking to African Manager on Tuesday, October 10, on the sidelines of the opening session of the textile and clothing trade meetings, Ben Hassine confirmed that Tunisian enterprises supply products that meet European specifications, whether in terms of social or environmental responsibility.

Ben Hassine also pointed out that the trade balance of the textile and clothing sector improved by 12% in the first eight months compared to the same period in 2022, and that the coverage rate increased from 116% to 132%.

Besides, exports from the sector went up by about 10% to reach TND 6,500 million, he added.
