Congo: EU estimates support to Congo at 103 million euros by 2020

The European Union (EU) will over 2014-2020 period release 103 million euros, or about 64 billion CFAF, to help in the development of Congo, the head of the EU delegation in Congo, Marcel Van Opstal, was quoted on Wednesday by the local media as saying.

The financial support is granted under the 11th European Development Fund for several projects in various areas such as transport, governance, health, biodiversity, sustainable development and forest management.

“The 103 million euros will enable us to contribute and particularly promote our cooperation and actions which from now on are in priority areas aimed at improving the living conditions of the people,” said Van Opstal on the occasion of the celebration of European Day on Monday.

According to him, the investment should go together with actions taken by the government, the private and non-government actors in Congo.
