Congo: IDA gives Congo US$ 4.8 million loan for statistical system

The World Bank’s soft loan arm, the International Development Association (IDA), has given Congo a loan of US$4.8 million for the Central African country to implement a reliable statistical system for the government, according to a statement from the financial institution in Brazzaville on Wednesday.

The Operations Director of the World Bank in Congo, Eustache Ouayoro, said the project aimed at building statistical capacity and would allow the Congolese authorities to better target their interventions, including in the fight against poverty and inequality between men and women.

The project will attract qualified personnel, modernize statistical systems using communication technology, improve data quality and enhance their methods of data use and dissemination.
