Congo oil receipts have dropped despite the high price of crude oil in the international market, the Congolese government announced Thursday.
”The oil receipts have not reached forecasts made in the last quarter of 2013, despite the high price of the barrel in the international market,” said Congolese government spokesperson Bienvenu Okiémy, at the end of the weekly council of ministers.
According to him, the downward slide in the oil revenues is due to the drop in the national crude oil production.
However, Mr Okiémy did not release figures to back his claims.
