Côte d’Ivoire: Morocco embarks on new electricity project

The Moroccan national electricity and potable water Office (ONEE) will implement a new electricity transmission project costing 23 million euros, according to an official communiqué received here Monday by PANA.

The project will enable ONEE meet, by half, the electricity needs in Morocco, in an efficient and sustainable way, and will improve inter-connectivity between Morocco and Algeria.

The project consists in three parties of 400 KV: Matmata-Msoun, Msoun-Gteter and Bourdim-Jerada, which are 80, 80 and 50 kilometer-long respectively.

They are located in the north of the country.

The contract for the project was awarded to Abengoa, which will do the engineering works, conception, construction, maintenance and achievement of the electric transmission vector of 210 km, guaranteeing at each stage the highest quality levels. The project will be commissioned in 2016.
