EU grants Morocco 25 million euro financial aid

The European Union (EU) has granted financial aid of 25 million euro to Morocco to finance a programme for poverty alleviation in 885 rural districts, according to a statement issued on Tuesday in Brussels.

The aid falls under the second phase of the Moroccan national human development initiative for 2011-2015.

According to the statement the EU aims at backing the development of income generating activities in a bid to contribute to develop the economic sector in underdeveloped areas in Morocco.

The European action aims at supporting the efforts made by the Moroccan government to help the poorest regions have basic infrastructure and social services.
