FDI: Morocco ranks 2nd in Africa in 2011

Morocco has been ranked second in Africa, behind continental economic powerhouse South Africa, in terms of Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) in 2011, according to “FDI Intelligence”, a Rabat-based subsidiary of the Financial Times Limited.

”The fact that the Alaoui Kingdom comes just after 154-project South Africa and is ahead of 55-project Kenya, as it has attracted another 70 projects in 2011, is a proof of the growing confidence foreign investors have in the business climate of Morocco,” the report says.

Morocco has been described as one of the most competitive countries in the region in 2011, with a 40 per cent increase in terms of projects and over 50 per cent growth in investments capital.

FDI in Africa has done more than doubled over the last decade due to the growing optimism of the investors and their confidence in the continent’s investments’ climate.
