Four injured in freak aircraft accident in SA

Four persons have been injured in a freak accident involving a British Airways (BA) aircraft at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa, PANA reported Monday.

Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) has confirmed that the Boeing 747 collided with a building at Africa’s busiest airport at 10.40 pm (local time) on Sunday.

Although none of the 189 people on the flight was hurt, four ground-handling employees who were in the building at the time experienced minor injuries.

A spokesman for ACSA said all passengers were taken off the flight to spend the night in a hotel.

While the aircraft is being repaired at the airport, BA has launched an investigation into the incident and is co-operating with the independent South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA).
