About four million individuals are employed with the private sector in UAE, half of which are construction workers said Saqr Saeed Gobash, Minister of Labour.
Quoting figures, Gobash said that the number of individuals working private sector stood at 2.567 in 2006, it was 3.113 in 2007 and this figure shot up to 4.079 in 2008.
According to him, nationals comprise less than half-a-percent of the total number of workers in the private sector. The percentage of the nationals working in the private sector stood at 0.25 in 2006 and saw a slight increase in 2007 with 0.36 per cent. However there was no visible change in their figures in 2008.
