Fuel prices to be adjusted monthly in Tunisia

Fuel prices will be adjusted monthly as stipulated by a decree issued on March 31 by the ministry of energy and the ministry of finance.

The decision was published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Tunisia (JORT) No. 28 of April 3, 2020, the Ministry of Energy said Saturday in a press release.

Article 5 of the decree stipulates that the prices of unleaded petrol and gas oil, regular diesel and ultra low sulfur diesel are set by the technical committee responsible for pricing and monitoring selling prices of imported finished petroleum products and local refined products , in accordance with the regulations of the monthly automatic adjustment mechanism.

The prices will thus be set after monitoring the average import prices in Tunisian dinar for each of these products over one month during a period of one month which ends before the first day of the month concerned by the adjustment.

“The value of the monthly upward or downward adjustment of the retail price shall not exceed 1.5% of the selling price in force since the last adjustment,” further reads the press release
