Five more COVID-19 infections were recorded on Tuesday in Gafsa governorate, bringing the overall number of confirmed cases in the region to 23.
This is the highest number of confirmed cases in one day since the pandemic spread in the region, said local health director in Gafsa Salem Nasri.
The new cases, from Ras El Kef in Southern Gafsa delegation, were infected by a local patient, the same source told TAP.
These cases were diagnosed with the virus following 84 tests carried out over the last two days on people suspected of having COVID-19, he added.
Among the cases infected with coronavirus in the governorate of Gafsa, 18 are in Southern Gafsa and 3 in Metlaoui.
