German industrial giant LAPP, a world leader in the manufacturing of cables, industrial wires, and connectivity solutions, has announced its decision to establish a Research & Development center in Tunisia.
The project was at the heart of a meeting held on December 16 between a delegation from the LAPP group and FIPA Tunisia (the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency), responsible for promoting and supporting foreign investments in Tunisia.
The delegation was led by Michael Seddig, CEO of the group, accompanied by Seif Allah Rached, the group’s vice-president, according to a statement from FIPA.
While the exact location of the future center and the investment amount have not yet been revealed, this project aims to make Tunisia a strategic hub for engineering and innovation serving the group’s activities.
The future R&D center is expected to focus on developing high value-added technological solutions, leveraging local expertise, particularly in the fields of engineering, electronics, and advanced industry.
A German industrial giant with a global dimension, LAPP is now established across all major industrial hubs worldwide.
The group is present in nearly 80 countries, with production sites, technical centers, and commercial subsidiaries spread across Europe (Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Eastern Europe), North America, Latin America, Asia (China, India, South Korea, Japan) and the Middle East. This global footprint allows it to support major industrial chains wherever they expand.
Within this extensive industrial geography, Tunisia stands out as a natural gateway to Euro-Mediterranean and African markets, combining logistical proximity to the European Union, cost competitiveness, and the availability of qualified human capital, particularly in engineering and industrial technology professions.
Founded in Germany and still owned by the Lapp family, the group has established itself as one of the world leaders in industrial wiring solutions.
Its business covers the design and manufacturing of industrial cables, data cables, optical fibers, wiring harnesses, connectors, accessories, and complete connectivity solutions, intended for key sectors such as industrial automation, automotive, energy, infrastructure, telecommunications, robotics, and Industry 4.0.
With an annual turnover of around two billion euros and more than 5,000 employees worldwide. To stay in the race, LAPP makes technological innovation a pillar of its industrial strategy.
