The Water Research and Technologies Center (CERTE) ranked eighth in the Arab region, according to the “Innovation Patents and Applications” index, among 317 institutions and research centers operating across the Middle East and North Africa region.
This index is considered one of the fundamental indicators reflecting the applied value of scientific research, as it highlights an institution’s ability to transform academic knowledge into practical, applicable innovations.
“Improvement in this index, which recorded a 200% increase during the 2020–2024 period, has helped strengthen the Center’s international reputation and promote the establishment of partnerships with the industrial sector by aligning research with real market needs,” CERTE stated.
This positive development reflects its increased competitiveness at both regional and international levels, it added.
It should be recalled that CERTE, established in 2005, is a Center of Excellence in water-related research, affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
