Japan funds community projects in Mozambique

The Japanese government indicated Wednesday it will make available US$ 172,000 for community development projects, covering educatio n , water supply and sanitation, in Mozambique.

An agreement to this effect was signed here by Japanese ambassador Tatsuya Mik i, and representatives of two non-governmental organizations, Elizabeth Sequeira , the executive director of the Progresso Association, and Peter Mers, of the Swi s s organisation Helvetas.

About US$ 85,205 of the amount will go Progresso to build and furnish a primary school (with four classrooms, three toilets and a borehole), in the district of M ueda, in the northern province of Cabo Delgado.

Helvetas will receives US$ 86,200.
