Libya holds Tunisian ‘Tourist Days’

The seventh edition of the Tunisian ‘Tourist Days’ star ted Saturday evening in Benghazi, a city 1,050 km east of Tripoli, the Libyan capital.

Organized by the Libyan General office for Tourism and Handicraft in collaborati on with the Tunisian National Tourism office, the event aims to promote partnership and complementarity between the two countries in the tourism field.

It will include an exhibition of the different Tourist Offices of both countrie s.

Specimens of handicrafts as well as activities of travel offices and agencies in both countries will also be exhibited, in addition to a conference and award ceremony for participating companies.

Libya and Tunisia share common borders which about three million people cross a nnually in both directions.

The volume of trade between Tunisia and Libya significantly increased in 2007, exceeding US$2 billion against US$1.79 billion in 2006.
