Malian customs make FCFA 297b revenue in 2012

The Malian Customs revenues in 2012 are estimated at approximately F CFA 296.6 billion, against a forecast of F CFA 297.274 billion, according to the Directorate General of Malian Customs.

Revenue from petroleum products amounted to approximately F CFA 49.113 billion, accounting for 97.76 pc in terms of achievement rate.

The dry cargo revenue, totaling approximately F CFA 248.161 billion, was higher than expected, and represented an achievement rate of 100.73 pc.

According to Baba Kida, Deputy Director of Malian Customs, the year 2012 was very challenging for the country.

Even though rainfall was generally satisfactory, the coup of 22 March 2012 led to the suspension of cooperation with the country’s technical and financial partners, he said.

In the area of trade, international suppliers have suspended business with Malian traders due to lack of insurers in the world market.

Customs is Mali’s second budget provider after the tax department.

The budget for the 2012 fiscal year is F CFA 900 billion.
