Mauritania sees third rise in ex-pump price of oil in a month

The ex-pump price of fuel increased on Wednesday for the third time in one month, sources from the stations have told PANA in Nouakchott.

The price of diesel went up from 360.9 ouguiya, about 1.25 US dollars, a litre to 369.9 ouguiya.

The sources said a litre of petrol has gone up from 425.7 ouguiya, about 1.7 US dollar, to 435 ouguiya.

No explanation has been given for the increase.

The authorities say that the prices for petroleum products in Mauritania are subsidized and are significantly lower compared to neighbouring Senegal and Mali.
