‘Mauritius Private Equity conference targets Africa’

 A two-day conference on private equity investments in emerging African markets has been scheduled for Balaclava, northern Mauritius, from 17 to 18 September, PANA learnt from official sources here.

The conference, the second in the series, has as its theme “Mauritius – Your Gateway to African Opportunities”.

The sources said the conference would feature eminent speakers from around the globe.

It will bring together private equity fund managers, economists, regulators and investment advisors with in-depth knowledge of the pan-Asian and African markets, the sources said.

Arnold Ekpe, Chief Executive officer of the Ecobank Group — with operations in 32 countries across Africa — will deliver the keynote address.

According to Ekpe, Private Equity Mauritius 2012 will serve as the platform for the sharing of insights on the current global economic scene, Africa’s offerings and potential, the various growth verticals and risk mitigation strategies specifically focused on investments in Africa and the role of Mauritius as a proven and trusted platform of choice for investing and doing business in Africa.

About 300 international and local participants, including C-level Executives and Decision-makers of large corporate firms, Private Equity Managers, Fund Managers, Fund Administrators, Wealth Managers, Investment Advisors, Partners of International Law firms, as well as other Financial Intermediaries and Professionals will attend the conference.

He said, as at date, registrations have been received by delegates from 18 countries, namely Australia, Botswana, Canada, France, India, Japan, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Namibia, Netherlands, Nigeria, South Africa, Singapore, Switzerland, UAE, UK, USA and Zimbabwe.
