Netherlands spent US$ 78 million on DRC in 2008

The Netherlands granted US$ 78 million to the DR Con go this year, Dutch Ambassador Mrs. Ellen Berends, disclosed Tuesday at the end o f a meeting with Congolese Prime Minister Adolphe Muzito.

The Netherlands have, in particular, intervened in the fields of humanitarian ac tions, reconstruction, good governance, environment, especially in the east of t h e country, as well as in the area of violence against women.

According to Berends, the intervention of her country in the field of peace and security was through the contribution of US$ 10 million to allow the UN Mission i n Congo (MONUC) reinforce its mobility and its implication in the operation of t h e elements of the armed forces.

The diplomat wished the Muzito government signals political goodwill in good gov ernance to attract Dutch investors who still drag their feet because of certain b lights like corruption.

She also pleaded for an effective partnership between the governments within a f ramework of sincere and permanent dialogue
