The Mauritian Chamber of Commerce (CCIM) and the Rwanda Private Sector Federation (FRSP), in Port Louis, signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) on trade, aimed at promoting trade between the two countries, PANA learnt Monday from official sources in the Rwandan capital.

According to Faustin Mbundu, President of FRSP, both countries will strengthen their partnership, particularly in the areas of textile industry, tourism and banking.

Exports from Mauritius to Rwanda have increased sevenfold between 2009 and 2011 and currently stand at about US$ 1.4 million, while imports from Rwanda to Mauritius remain extremely low, according to Cedric Speville, President of CCIM.
