RwandAir Express suspends flights to South Sudan

Rwanda’s flag carrier RwandAir Express Tuesday announced the suspension of all its flights to the South Sudanese capital, Juba, this week, following an attempted coup that degenerated into clashes between different armed factions in the country.

“All RwandAir Express flights to Juba, the capital of South Sudan, are cancelled until further notice for reasons of insecurity in the capital,” the airline said in a statement issued in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda.

South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir announced Monday that his government had crushed a coup attempt against it and imposed a nighttime curfew on the capital.
