Schengen visa applications submitted by Tunisians reached a record level in 2024. According to data from the website Schengen Visa Info, 177,951 applications were registered.
This represents an increase of 11.4% compared to 2023. Among these applications, over 38,000 were rejected, representing an overall refusal rate of 21.39%.
This rejection rate resulted in a direct financial loss estimated at €3.4 million (approximately 11.6 million Tunisian dinars).
Overall, Tunisians spent more than €16 million (around 54.6 million dinars) in visa fees in 2024, not including additional costs related to document preparation, consular services, and travel.
Furthermore, the cost of a visa application was increased in June 2024, rising from €80 to €90, equivalent to 273–307 Tunisian dinars.
In 2024, Germany offered the highest visa acceptance rate for Tunisians, with 84.09% of the 85,476 applications reviewed being approved.
Conversely, Greece had the highest rejection rate, with 53.78% of applications refused.
France remains the preferred destination for Tunisians, with 106,617 applications submitted, representing nearly 60% of the total.
