The government of Japan watches closely with concern the unfolding events in Burkina Faso such as the detention of Transitional President Michel Kafando and other members of the transitional government by the Presidential Security Regiment, which happened in Ouagadougou, as well as ensuing developments.
2. Japan condemns any attempt to overthrow the civilian transitional government through violent means and calls for an immediate release of all detainees.
