Sudan: BADEA holds 74th Coordination Group Meeting in Khartoum

The Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) will hold the 74th meeting of the Coordination Group of Arab National and Regional Developmental Institutions in Khartoum, the Sudanese capital, from 15-17 September, 2014.

According to a press statement here Wednesday, the Coordination Group includes the Islamic Development Bank, the OPEC Fund for International Development, the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, the Saudi Fund for Development, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, the Arab Monetary Fund, Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, Qatar Development Fund and the Arab Gulf Program for Development, besides BADEA.

It said that the Director-General of BADEA, Mr. Abdelaziz Khelef, will be addressing the opening session of the meeting.

The agenda of the three-day meeting includes the following Items: Exchange of information in terms of projects to be financed by the Group. Follow up of the conclusions of the Third Africa Arab Summit, the 13th High Level Meeting of the Heads of the Coordination Group, the OECD/DAC High level Meeting with the Coordination Group.

It comprises as well, follow up of establishment of the Arab Development Portal (ADP). The list of items also incorporates support extended by the Group to the State of Palestine; follow up of the commendations of Mexico High-Level Meeting of the Global Partnership on Aid Effectiveness and the Islamic Development Bank’s forum on Aid effectiveness. The agenda also contains follow up of Renewable Energy Initiatives in developing countries.

Representatives from International Development institutions will also take part in the meeting.

These are the World Bank, the OECD/DAC, and the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development.

The coordination Group was set up in 1975 to provide greater cohesion through the coordination of financing efforts and the accompanying procedures with a view to enhancing development assistance.
