Mali and Switzerland have signed an agreement for 9.6 billion CFAF for a programme to support Mali’s urban districts (PACUM), official sources told PANA on Tuesday.
The programme aims at strengthening actions and capacity of districts and officials for social services to improve sanitation, health and the daily lives of citizens.
The programme will benefit seven cities – Bamako, Ségou, Sikasso, Kayes, Mopti, Koutiala and Timbuktu.
The World Bank is also contributing about 35 billion CFAF over six years to finance the programme. The Swiss funds represent 21% of the overall PACUM financing.
Switzerland has contributed to several areas in Mali particularly humanitarian aid, budget support and assistance to women.
