Tunisair: passenger traffic grows 2.8% in December 2018

National carrier Tunisair has further improved its activity indicators during the month of December 2018.

According to a statement issued Wednesday, January 9, 2019, the passenger traffic of December 2018 recorded a 2.8% increase over the same month in 2017.

The increase in traffic is confirmed at the national carrier. For the month of December 2018, passenger traffic increased by 2.8% compared to December 2017.

The airline announced that passenger traffic had risen by 5% in November 2018.

The press release identified the main indicators of the company during the month of December 2018.

Thus, passenger traffic, all activities combined, went up from 264,884 in December 2017 to 272,399 passengers in 2018.

Regular traffic increased by 1.5%, from 262,669 to 266,680 passengers and charter traffic increased 170.4%, from 1,798 to 4,862 passengers thanks to the Umrah traffic.

The load factor also improved significantly, going up from 71.6% in November 2017 to 72.7% in November 2018, i.e. an increase of 1.1 points.

Regarding Tunisair’s main markets (according to the geographical division and in terms of regular traffic), European countries have a 68% share of passenger traffic, with a slight decrease of 0.1%. African countries accumulate a passenger share of 17.4% and recorded a 1.8% increase.

The Middle East countries, with a passenger share of 13.1%, posted a 10% rise and North America (Montreal), with a passenger share of 1.4%, saw a growth of 6.4%.

The indicators relating to the punctuality of the Tunisair fleet indicate a deterioration since they were of 37% in December 2018 against 42% in December 2017.
