The consumer price index increased by 0.5% in December 2018, compared to November 2018, due in particular to higher prices of the food and beverages group by 0.5% after the rise in sheep meat prices by 1.8%, eggs by 1.2% and chocolates and cakes by 0.9%.
This is reported in a statement from the INS.
According to the same source, winter clothing prices rose by 1.7% and shoes by 1.6%.
Transport group prices rose by 0.5%, so vehicle prices rose by 1.2% and prices of vehicle utilization expenses by 0.3%.
Rates for food services and hotels continue to rise with a rate of 0.7% over one month, following the increase in prices for restaurant and cafe services by 0.4% and accommodation services by 2.2%.
Similarly, the prices of clothing and footwear rose by 1.6%.
