Tunisia: ‘’Accor’’ expands its presence by a score of hotels

French hotel operator, “Accor”, proposes to expand its presence in Tunisia by creating a score (between 20 and 25) of hotel units operated under “Accor” in the coming years announced Gérard Pélisson, co-founder of “Accor” Group.

Following his meeting Tuesday with the Minister of Tourism, Elyes Fakhfakh, he stated that “prospects for cooperation between Tunisia and the hotel group are promising,” adding that the geographical location of Tunisia entitles it to be the most famous tourist destination in the Maghreb region, or in the Mediterranean, citing the possibility of creating other tourism projects by the group in Tunisia.

Gérard Pélisson visited two hotels “Novotel” and “Ibis” operated by “Accor.”

He noted in this regard that “echoes on the performance of the two hotels are favorable, considering that the occupancy rate in the two units is” respectable.”

In addition, he said he was satisfied with the quality of training in the two hotels, which he said, meets relevant international standards. It should be noted that the two previously mentioned hotel units went into operation in February 2012.

The Minister of Tourism said that the visit of the chief of “Accor” is an important evidence about the confidence that one of the biggest tourist groups in Europe and the world in Tunisia.

He said that the meeting with Pélisson focused on strengthening tourism training and leveraging the expertise of Accor in the area.

The Minister noted that the group’s president expressed his interest in the consolidation of training in the field of tourism through partnering with the tourism training institute of Sidi Dhrif (northern suburb of Tunis).

“Accor,” which is present in 92 countries, operates 4,200 hotel units and more than 500,000 hotel rooms.
