Tunisia: ‘’Souk At-Tanmia’’ attracts hundreds of projects

Partners of “Souk At-Tanmia,” an initiative launched by the African Development Bank (AfDB), started pre-selecting nearly 300 projects, out of a total of 1,350 submitted electronically via the website posted by the AfDB.

Emmanuel Santi, an economist in the bank and the project coordinator said that the final selection of the best projects (between 70 and 100) will be announced at the beginning of September.

The value of the funding to be provided in the form of donation is estimated at between 10 and 30 thousand dinars, the AfDB official said, adding that the funding will cover the total cost of the project or it will be used as self-financing for projects requiring much greater investment.

Souk At-Tanmia is the first initiative by AfDB, in collaboration with 18 partners to foster the creation of innovative job-generating projects in Tunisia.

The projects selected during the first stage will receive support and assistance in the preparation of financial plans.

The combined efforts of various partners and private structures in different regions are the strong point of this initiative, he added.

According to statistics distributed on Souk At-Tanmia, applications reached 1,350, with 45% targeting the unemployed and 60% young people.
