Tunisia: “Tanit” ferry operational from May

A new Tunisian ferry named “Tanit” with a total cost of 357 million dinars ($ 233 million) will be operational from next May.

The new ferry has a capacity of 3,200 passengers and 1,060 vehicles on board.

A new impetus is given to the transport sector which represents 15% of the overall investments in Tunisia and generates about 1.5 billion dinars in foreign currency (nearly $ 980 million) and 130,000 direct jobs, 39,000 in the private sector and 91,000 in the public sector.

Tunisia has now seven commercial ports ensuring annually the exchange of 30 million tons or about 98% of the overall trade exchanges between Tunisia and the world.
