Tunisia: 16 hydrocarbon permits valid until January 2024

According to the monthly report on the energy situation (February 2024) just published by the Observatoire National de l’Energie et des Mines, the total number of hydrocarbon permits valid in January 2024 was 16, including 14 exploration permits and 2 prospecting permits.

The total number of concessions is 56, of which 44 are in production. The state is involved in 34 of these producing concessions through the Entreprise Tunisienne d’Activités Pétrolières (ETAP) and directly in three.

In terms of exploration, according to this report from the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy, there will be “no new seismic acquisition at the end of February 2024”, while in terms of drilling, there will only be “one new exploration well at the end of February 2024”, but no new development wells at the end of February 2024.
