Tunisia: 300 million dinars of shortfall in tobacco sector

The amount of the shortfall recorded in the tobacco sector during 2011 ranges from 250 to 300 million dinars, learnt Africanmanager.

This is explained by the parallel market, which has greatly undermined the sector. The majority of revenues of the tobacco sector go to the state budget. Between 65 and 80% of the selling price of a cigarette packet returns to the state.
