Tunisia: $ 500-million Saudi loan raises foreign currency reserves to 91 days of imports

Saudi Arabia has just released a loan worth 500 million dollars (the equivalent of about 1.5 billion dinars) for the state budget, Ilboursa reported.

The loan agreement was signed at a visit by Finance Minister Ridha Chalghoum to Saudi Arabia from January 12 to 14, 2019, in the framework of the follow-up of the outcome of the visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to Tunisia, end of November 2018, and the visit of Prime Minister Youssef Chahed in Riyadh from December 12 to 15, 2018.

This credit boosted Tunisia’s foreign exchange reserves from Wednesday, January 23, 2019 to more than 15 billion dinars covering 91 days of imports.
