Fehmi Laourine, Managing Director at EY Tunisia, presented the main figures and findings of the EY 2026 business barometer in Tunisia.
Speaking to Express FMon Thursday, May 7, he said that three key lessons can be drawn from this survey.
Laourine noted that the first concerns business leaders’ perception of the economic and social situation, which remains negative but is clearly improving.
Indeed, 76% of business leaders still have a negative assessment of the economic and social situation. This is a significant figure, showing that structural difficulties persist.
However, the trend is what matters: it was 96% in 2023, then 84% in 2024.
“So the assessment remains negative, but it is clearly easing over time,” he said.
This shift is even more visible when looking at expectations for economic developments:
- 36% expect a deterioration
- 36% expect an improvement
- 28% expect stability
By comparison, in 2024, 62% expected a deterioration and only 19% expected an improvement.
Laourine stressed that the outlook has moved from a predominantly pessimistic view to a much more balanced distribution of scenarios.
