Tunisia: 80 weekly flights between Tunisia and Germany soon

The number of flights between Tunisia and Germany will increase to 80 flights per week, against 23 currently, said the Director General of Civil Aviation Habib Mekki.

This increase in flights comes after the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Tunisian and German civil aviation authorities, on the sidelines of a visit made on September 14 and 15, 2015 in Bonn (Germany), he added at a press conference.

This memorandum provides for the increase in airports operated by both sides from 5 to 9 airports from summer of 2016, and the total liberalization of the number of airports that can be connected, and that, from the summer 2017.

80 German airports are now open to flights.

The above agreement will allow Tunisian airlines for the 1st time to connect several German cities during a single flight, like the operation of the Tunis / Berlin / Frankfurt route. The objective is to control operating costs.

This agreement will strengthen the tourist flow, win back the German market, which recorded a decline particularly after the terrorist attacks on Bardo Museum (March 18, 2015) and a hotel unit in Sousse (June 26, 2015)
